NJ man accused of ritual sacrifices with machete of chickens in Linden cemetery

LINDEN, N.J. (WABC) --  A man was arrested Monday in New Jersey for animal cruelty and on a related weapon charge.

Wharton police arrested Leonard L. Edwards Jr., of Wharton, N.J., on a warrant out of Linden for unlawful possession of a weapon and animal cruelty.

On July 31, Edwards used machetes to decapitate several chickens at a Linden cemetery in an apparent ritualistic sacrifice, according to the Linden Police Department.

Edwards was booked at Linden Police Department headquarters and released on $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again Aug. 15 at Union County Superior Court.
