A Nederland man has been indicted on a capital murder charge in connection with the shooting death of his own mother.
The Jefferson County Grand Jury Thursday handed up the one-count indictment against Joseph Garrett Arredondo, 26, of Nederland, charging him in the death of Hollie Ann Arredondo, 55, also of Nederland.
Police say last month Joseph Arredondo forced his way into the home of Hollie Arredondo at the Hillcrest apartment complex located at 1516 S. 27th St. as she called the Spindletop Center seeking help for her son.
Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush said once inside the apartment, Joseph Arredondo fired seven shots. Chief Bush said Hollie Arredondo was hit by six of those shots.
Arredondo is in the Jefferson County Jail on a $2 million bond.
