Man killed falling onto deck of ship Tuesday identified

Officials have released the identity of a man who died in an industrial accident on a ship that was docked at the ExxonMobile Refinery Dock Tuesday.

The victim is identified as Andrey Pakholchuk, 44, of Russia.

According to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Pakholchuk was the Chief Officer of the Mystic Striker.  He was struck by a mooring line that had snapped. The impact caused him to fall to the deck below.

Pakholchuk was treated by the ExxonMobil Emergency response team and Beaumont EMS.
He was pronounced deceased by Jefferson County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Judge Ransom "Duce" Jones.

Judge Jones ordered an autopsy. The investigation is continuing awaiting the autopsy results.

The ship is owned and operated by Enterprise Shipping & Trading S.A., based in Athens, Greece.
