Man indicted for robbery of woman at South Beaumont ATM

A man police say robbed a woman at a South Beaumont ATM was indicted this week by a Jefferson County Grand Jury.

Randy Kirkwood, 55, of Beaumont, is facing one count of aggravated robbery.

According to 12News file stories, a woman, 42, was taking money out of her account using a Chase Bank ATM located at 995 Washington on January 15.  When she walked back to her vehicle, a man confronted her in the parking lot, pulled out a knife, and demanded money. The victim gave the robber the cash and he ran away.

A police spokesperson said the victim was not physically injured during the robbery.

Officers quickly arrived in the area and found a man matching the description of the robber. The man also had the exact amount of cash on him that was taken in the robbery. The victim then positively identified the man as the one who had robbed her.

Officers identified the man as Kirkwood. He was taken to the police station where he gave a voluntary statement to detectives. Officers then took him to the Jefferson County jail and booked him in for one charge of aggravated robbery.
