Man arrested for shooting, killing his wife in Tyler County

An altercation between an estranged husband and wife ended deadly in northwest Tyler County.

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford tells 12News his dispatch received a 911 call from a man around 1 p.m. Wednesday stating he had shot his wife.

Deputies arrived on scene located on Country Road 12 in the Whitetail Ridge division to find a female dead with one gunshot wound.

The man told deputies he had gotten into a fight with his wife and then shot her. Authorities say the couple were still married but living apart.

The woman's body was brought to the Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Beaumont for an autopsy. Tyler County investigators and the Texas Rangers were there to witness it.

Officials found discrepancies in the man's account and after the autopsy a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Identities won't be released until next of kin is notified.
