Man arrested after robbing driver with flare gun at Hamshire gas station

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A man is in jail Friday after a robbery at flare-gunpoint at a Hamshire gas station.

Juan Manuel Navarro was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery after the Friday robbery at the Cowboy Truck Stop just after noon according to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses told deputies that Navarro walked up to a van that was parked at  a pump being fueled, opened the driver's door and displayed the orange flare gun demanding that the occupants get out and hand over their keys according to the release.

Navarro then grabbed a cell phone from the driver's seat, walked to the other side of the van and fired a flare from the gun before walking off the release said.

Deputies arrived and found Navarro hiding in a tree line near the truck stop the release said.

They were also able to locate the round that was fired.

No one was injured in the incident.

Navarro remains in the Jefferson County jail where his bond has not been set yet according to jailers.
