Emergency crews Tuesday worked a major accident on the Rainbow Bridge. The accident was reported around 11:30 a.m.
Orange County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Clint Hodgkinson told 12News that the first report to dispatch indicated a vehicle ran into the back of a logging truck on the bridge. When first responders arrived, they found that a 2009 Hino flatbed truck had stopped because a blue 2007 GMC passenger car had a flat on the bridge. When the truck stopped behind the car, the truck was rear-ended by a red 2013 GMC pickup.
The impact of the collision pushed the Hino truck into the rear of the disabled vehicle.
The driver of the 2007 GMC passenger vehicle, Patricia Owens, 27, of Beaumont, was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth with minor injuries.
The driver of the Hino Flatbed truck, Byron Cormier, 57, of Beaumont, was taken to Baptist hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the 2013 GMC truck, Thomas Thompson, 30, of Jasper, was also taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth with non-life threatening injuries.?
Thompson was cited for Failure to Control Speed.
