Mack Brown steps down

After weeks of speculation about his status with the University of Texas, Longhorns head coach Mack Brown will resign from his position.

Another average season in Austin stirred up talk about the possible firing, or resignation of longtime coach Mack Brown.

The Longhorns have just finished up an eight-and-four season with a loss to Baylor last Saturday.

Sources close to the situation report that Brown has already told his players that he will not return as their head coach next year.

He will, however, stay on to coach the Longhorns in the Valero Alamo Bowl against Oregon on December 30th.

Brown retires at number ten on the FBS all-time wins list, and just nine wins short of tying the school record with 158 wins.

The Longhorns won a BCS National Championship, and two Big 12 titles during his 16 season at the helm.
