A Beaumont physician who practiced in the community for more than 40 years passed away Tuesday morning in his sleep, his family tells 12News.
Dr. Charles "Chuck" Caskey was 84 years old. He was a life member of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and is survived by his wife Mary of 61 years, three children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
According to an article posted earlier this month on the TAFP website, his career saw many changes in medicine and he treated his patients "like family and they made each day worth it."
He opened his practice in 1958 but closed it in 1999 after suffering a hunting accident.
He remained active cooking baked goods for nursing home patients, taking flowers to hospital patients weekly and with his church until his health declined.
A wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Broussards on Major Drive. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 4090 Delaware Street in Beaumont.
