Worker struck, killed in construction zone along Cardinal Drive in Beaumont

BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police are investigating a fatal auto vs pedestrian accident in a construction zone on Cardinal Drive Wednesday.

Alfred Earl Dingler,57, of Liberty, who was working on a construction crew, was struck and killed by a pick up truck on Cardinal Drive west of Fannett Road at an on-ramp from the access road according to the Beaumont Police Department.

The truck then struck a cement truck on the shoulder of the road.

Police shut down southbound Cardinal Drive from IH-10 to investigate the accident.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:28 a.m. Beaumont Police responded to the 5600 block of West Cardinal Drive (East Bound) in reference to an Auto Pedestrian Crash.

When Officers arrived it was learned that the driver of a red, Nissan Titan lost control of their vehicle and struck a member of a road construction crew.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim is identified as Alfred Earl Dingler, a 57 year old Liberty man.

Next of kin has been notified.

The crash is still under investigation.
