Woman stabs, kills 31 year-old Beaumont man on Thanksgiving

According to Beaumont Police Department, they received a call right before 9:00 Thursday evening, about a stabbing at the 5100 block of Gober road in Beaumont.

BEAUMONT - A Beaumont man died after being stabbed in the chest during an altercation at a north Beaumont home on Thanksgiving evening.

Anthony Bernard, 31, of Beaumont, died at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been transported after being stabbed in the 5100 block of Gober Road in Beaumont according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Beaumont Police, who responded to the call at about 9 p.m. Thursday, say that Bernard was stabbed by a woman who shares a child with him.

Police also say that the stabbing stemmed from a family violence incident and that the woman may have been acting in self-defense.

Detectives, who are continuing their investigation, have taken statements from witnesses at the scene and have interviewed the suspect but no arrests have been made.

Police plan to forward the case to the grand jury when they are finished with their investigation according to the release.
