BEAUMONT - A police investigator says video of a June homicide shows the gunman chase his victim, shoot him multiple times, then fire more bullets after the man fell to the ground.
Darius Gardiner, 25, of Beaumont, was indicted this week on a charge of first degree felony murder for the June 30th fatal shooting of Cedathion Dill, 36, in the 3700 block of Grand Street.
According to a probable cause affidavit, surveillance video shows Dill walking along the roadway when a silver Buick LaCrosse stopped near him. The affidavit says Gardiner got out of the car, walked up to Dill from behind, and began chasing him firing as the two ran. Dill fell to the ground and Gardiner walked up and fired more shots. Police say Gardener then ran to the car and it sped away.
Dill was later found in a grassy area near the Pointe North Apartments in the 3700 block of Magnolia.
Gardiner on Wednesday remains held on $750,000 bond and a mental health hold according to jail records.
