Tyler County Donation Center asking for vandals to come clean up their act

A donation center off of FM 1520 in Tyler County has been vandalized. Vulgar words have been spray painted on the brick and an AC unit has been stolen from the building.

WARREN - A center dedicated to helping those down on their luck in Tyler County is now asking for help.

Vulgar words have been spray painted on the brick and an air conditioning unit has been stolen from the Tyler County Donation Center. The Donation Center has been using the old Warren Junior High School band hall for the past two years.

The donation center is asking whoever is responsible for that graffiti to come clean it up.

Jacob Spivey volunteers with the group and thinks it's unfortunate that someone would spray paint vulgar words and steal appliances.

"That's the thing that is heartbreaking about it, this is charity the way it is supposed to be, it's not supported by the government or some big corporation, this is community members trying to help community members," Spivey said.

Spivey is not sure who's behind these acts of vandalism, but he wants to work with them in a positive way.

"You know hopefully we can work this out with whoever's responsible in a way that benefits us both, and I think we're certainly reasonable on that, but we can't wait forever on that."

The donation center says if whoever's responsible does not come forward, then charges will be pressed with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office.

The donation center can be reached at (409) 350-8871.
