Two suspects arrested and charged, one suspect still at large following robbery and murder

LAKE CHARLES - 20-year-old Justin D Landry of Lake Charles was arrested for first degree murder following a shooting that took place on North Simmons Street in Lake Charles.

Lake Charles Police Department responded to a shooting at the 400 block of North Simmons Street at approximately 3:30p.m Monday. 

Officers found 31-year-old Gary Obrien dead from a gunshot wound. Two other victims, told officers that three male suspects were wearing dark clothing and their faces were covered. They had entered the residence through the back entrance.

The suspects were armed with firearms. One of the suspects demanded to see Obrien. Obrien refused to go with the suspects and Landry shot and killed him according to the release.

All three suspects then fled on foot from the residence.

Landry was arrested for first degree murder. Landry’s bond is set at $1,000.000. 18-year-old Jermyre J. Bowers was arrested for obstruction of justice. Bowers bond was set at $25,000.

The motive for the invasion was discovered as robbery during the investigation. Landry was identified by a witness of the shooting. Bowers was identified through another witness in the investigation.

Bowers gave false information to investigators during the investigation. The third suspect is still at large.
