BEAUMONT - Evacuating Jefferson County when a hurricane is on the way will no longer include State Highway 105.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephanie Davis told 12News Tuesday that the 2017 evacuation plan includes closing the entrance to 105 in Jefferson County. Evacuees will use US 69/96 north if an evacuation is called this year.
Sgt. Davis stressed that this should not be confused with FM 105 in Vidor.
The announcement was made at Ford Park where state and federal officials are taking part in the “2017 Hurricane Charlie Readiness Exercise.” The full-scale exercise includes volunteer role players and staff operating a test evacuation shelter. It includes local, regional, state, federal, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
