Searchers recover body of Jasper man who went missing in Lake Sam Rayburn

Searchers late Tuesday morning recovered the body of a Jasper man who went missing over the weekend at Lake Sam Rayburn.

Authorities say 57-year-old William Harding was found at about 11 a.m. in the San Augustine County side of the lake near the Coleman area. His body was taken from the lake at the Five Fingers Boat Ramp.

They say his empty pontoon boat was found near the Jasper/Angelina County Line. Harding's truck was found at the public boat ramp on Road 255.

"They called and told us they found him, to call off the search," said Dan Small, a Jasper County resident who helped with the search. "I was relieved they found him and maybe the family can get some closure."

Harding's son tells 12news that him and his family are already in the process of making funeral arrangements. There is no word yet on the cause of death.
