The American Red Cross of Southeast and Deep East Texas volunteers are getting ready to head to Florida following Hurricane Matthew.

BEAUMONT - The American Red Cross of Southeast and Deep East Texas volunteers are getting ready to head to Florida following Hurricane Matthew.

Steve and Linda Buser are stationed to be in Orlando by Saturday to help distribute food and water.

Right now, 100 Red Cross shelters are on stand by across the Florida coast. "Any time we have a storm, like Hurricane Matthew, its all hands on deck." Said Chester Jourdan, Executive Director of Red Cross of Southeast Texas.

Jourdan also says six more volunteers from the Southeast Texas area will be on standby to head to the Florida coast within the next couple of days.

The Red Cross is asking people around Southeast Texans to donate money because it is the fastest way to help those affected by the hurricane.

If you wish to donate, you can visit the American Red Cross of Southeast and Deep East Texas on 3260 Eastex Freeway or donate online at http://www.redcross.org/
