Driver identified in Gulfway Drive wreck that sends truck crashing into home

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A two-vehicle wreck sends a truck crashing into a home on Gulfway Drive near Main.
 
First responders had to extricate one person from the truck.
 
At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 6000 Block of Gulfway Drive, near Main Street, in Jefferson County.
 
Preliminary reports indicate that a 1994 Tow Truck was stopped in the inside traffic lane of Highway 87.  

A 2002 Toyota pickup truck was traveling northbound on Highway 87 and rear-ended the tow truck. 

 

After colliding with the tow truck, the Toyota pickup truck traveled across the median continued off the roadway and struck a house.

The driver of the Toyota, 73-year-old Charles Morrell of Orange, Texas, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the tow truck, Sameer Jundi, 21, of Florida, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries. 

Jundi was treated and later released from the hospital.

Witnesses on the scene tells 12News, the injured person was transported by ambulance then flown to a hospital
 
This is an ongoing investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash
