Police track down man for outstanding warrant in Beaumont's North End

Beaumont police shut down a stretch of Kristin Lane after a man barricaded himself inside his home.

BEAUMONT - Bounty hunters tracked down a man in Beaumont Monday afternoon, whom had an outstanding warrant  for a misdemeanor DWI.

Beaumont Police say the man, who had a gun in his possession, drove to his home in the 5700 block of Kristin Lane in Beaumont.

The man barricaded himself inside, and police shut down the block.

Police eventually cleared the area. Officer Haley Walters says it wasn't worth risking the lives of officers or neighbors.

"At this point for officers, it's not safe for us to continue this any further. So, what they did was went ahead and broke down perimeter and they'll follow up with the subject at a later time," Officer Walters said.

"If  an officer is initiating a traffic stop, whether it's a traffic violation or because of a tip and they believe a driver has a warrant, comply, pull over and let the officer do their job," Officer Walters said.

BPD stated that the offense was a misdemeanor offense, and that they would come back a later date.
