BEAUMONT - Beaumont police have identified the homeless woman killed in a hit and run last week on College Street.

Bonnie Lee Casaneve, 67, was struck by a car that fled the scene as she pushed a shopping cart carrying her belongings across College Street last Thursday, Dec 1.

Police are still searching for the driver that fled the area and are asking that they 'do the right thing' and come forward.

Beaumont Police responded to the call at about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of College and Major according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Casaneve was pronounced dead at the scene according to Beaumont EMS.

A white car, possibly with dark tinted windows, was traveling west on College Street when it struck Casaneve and left the scene according to the release.

A second vehicle then struck Casaneve but the driver stopped and called police along with another 'non-involved' person according to the release.

Casaneve also had a cat that Beaumont Animal Services took custody of.

The cat will be available for adoption if her family is not located to take the cat in five days.
