ORANGE - The Orange Police Department is investigating a possible homicide, the body of a 29-year-old woman was found in a ditch off of Interstate 10.
Lance Deroche, resident of Orange says events like this are extremely rare in the area.
“It’s pretty horrific, we've never had a problem like this before in Orange,” he says.
The haunting news reminds him of another recent death in the area, a 20-year-old who was shot in the chest.
Both cases, still unresolved.
“That's two deaths in less than a month here in Orange,” explains Deroche.
Police were called to the ditch in the 2,400 block of south Lutcher drive a little before 11 Saturday morning.
There they found the woman's lifeless body resting on top of the grass.
“You see a lot of girls walking up and down on the feeder road early in the morning and late in the evenings,” he says, something he calls very unusual.
Deroche says he hates to hear of cases like this happening so close to home but hopes Police find out what happened, and hopefully justice is served.
“You would think that things like this would happen in bigger cities like Houston, not in Orange,” he says.
The cause of death is still under investigation, and the victim’s name is being held pending notification of the family.
