Nederland company works major relief effort operation in Puerto Rico

Telecommunications company, Cat 5 Resources in Nederland working an extreme relief effort operation in Puerto Rico.

NEDERLAND - A company out of Nederland is working on getting the communication back up and running in Puerto Rico.

Their efforts have not only alleviated the suffering of Southeast Texans during Harvey, but "Cat 5 Resources" is also providing relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

Thousands of people are still suffering without power more than two months after Hurricane Maria.

The need is colossal which is why CEO Cindy Perez will not be taking a break soon.

“A couple of days after Maria, we sent out our first plane which was an Antonov 124 we loaded up and a couple of our managers went down on the plane we were one of the first planes with resources into Puerto Rico." Perez said.

In fact, Cat 5 Resources has been providing relief and saving lives since 2004 but rarely publicizes its efforts. The company responded to Harvey and acted quickly when Irma struck Florida.

Right now, Cat 5 Resources has more than 500 team members on the ground in Puerto Rico.

"We've actually delivered fuel 15 thousand times for their towers. There's over 16 hundred cell phone towers in Puerto Rico and we've hit everyone of them." Perez explained.

From fuel, generators, water, diapers, and formula, the company is still collecting the goods and delivering them by air, sea, and land.

"Before Harvey hit we rolled directly into Irma which rolled directly into Maria. There has not been a one day break to this date." said Becky Romero, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Relations.

Perez said Cat 5's work will not soon end, especially after seeing the devastation with her own eyes.

The company will be collecting donations on Monday, November 27th for both Maria and Harvey victims. Here's how you can help:

Monday starting at 9 a.m. CAT 5 Resources will be taking Relief Supply and Christmas Present (for the kids) donations for Puerto Rico at 4755 Patillo Rd. Beaumont, TX 77705.

This collection will go on until we fill up the shipping container located on site.

The company is covering the costs for shipping, transport and will also be distributing these supplies to people in Puerto Rico ourselves.

They are also taking donations for toys for Buckner in Southeast Texas at our Cat5 Office on Nederland Ave (3004 Nederland Ave Nederland, TX 77627)  – going to local children and foster families in need, some of which were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
