Nashville woman shot dead at La Quinta Inn once involved in 'promotion of prostitution'

Woman found shot to death identified

BEAUMONT - Records reveal new details about the Tennessee woman found shot to death in a Beaumont hotel Wednesday.

Beaumont Police identified the victim as Erica Franklin, 31, of Nashville.

Digging deeper, 12News discovered that the woman was a registered sex offender in Tennesse due to two cases of promoting prostitution.

A criminal history check also showed an aggravated assault conviction.

A radio station in Tennessee reported in 2012 that Franklin "allegedly used a claw hammer to seriously beat a man after a dispute about a business transaction."

Staff at the La Quinta Inn on Walden Road told 12News Franklin checked in around 3 p.m. Monday under an assumed name.

The Tennessee sex offender registry lists four aliases for Franklin.Friday, hotel staff were not able to say if Franklin used any of the listed names to check in.

A clerk told 12News a guest reported to staff Monday that a loud voice was heard in the hallway.

Investigators recovered surveillance video.  Officials have not yet said what they found on the video.

According to a 12News file story, Beaumont police on Wednesday said there is a possible connection between the woman who was shot and Ivory Pantallion III, a rapper known as Ivory P., who authorities say led them on a three-county chase on Tuesday.

A deputy who was involved in the chase, said it ended after Pantallion crashed his 1998 Mercedes SUV.

Officers say Pantallion brandished a firearm and was shot to death by officers.
