Man arrested for attempted capital murder, shot at officers during police standoff

A man has been arrested following a standoff on the 500 block of West Main Street in Kirbyville. Casey Pulliam attempted to fire a shotgun at officers once they entered the home but the gun misfired.

KIRBYVILLE - A man has been arrested following a standoff on the 500 block of West Main Street in Kirbyville. Casey Pulliam attempted to fire a shotgun at officers once they entered the home but the gun misfired. He was arrested for attempted capital murder. 

The standoff began around 2:30p.m Monday according to Chief Brister. A father and son were inside the home at the time of the standoff. The son, Casey Pulliam, was the person arrested for attempted capital murder, according to Chief Brister.

Chief Brister stated that the Pulliam had been acting weird for a few days prior to the incident and that he had been running around naked.  

Jasper County Deputies and State Troopers were seen in tactical gear heading towards the house prior to the arrest. Police fired three cans of gas into the back room where he barricaded himself. 

Jasper County Deputies, Kirbyville officers, and State Troopers were all on scene. The Deputy K-9's were called to the scene to assist. 

"I just hope that this will be eye opening for some people and that they will try to get some of these dangerous drugs off the street" stated Casey Pulliam's father. 

Pulliam is being held at the Jasper County jail. 

Casey could arraigned tomorrow morning according to Chief Brister.  We will have more details as this story unfolds.
