PORT ARTHUR - It was bubble mania Wednesday kicked off the annual Fall Festival in Port Arthur. Students at Lamar State College-Port Arthur strapped themselves in, and prepared to bounce around. Student Government Vice President, Bradley Fant said he enjoys holding events like this for the students.
“Get outside. Get a little bit of exercise,” said Fant. “Have fun with it. Just something for the students.”
Claire Thomason, Director of Student Activities at Lamar-Port Arthur says that with the increase of students living on campus, she has seen an increase in student participation.
“Whenever they're here, and naturally they are close by, then it is a lot easier to participate in our events,” said Thomason. “We try real hard to let everyone know on campus about the events we have. And I think we have seen positive results.”
Clark hunt, a freshman at the school, thinks the events are a good idea.
“I try to come out here on campus, and try to do a lot of things when it comes down to these events,” said Hunt. “You know, because I like the events here from it being my first year. And to me I think it's important to come up here to experience these things. Especially if it's you're first year of college.”
A week full of events are scheduled leading up to a Trunk or Treat on Halloween. That event will be held in the parking lot in front of the student center at the school.
