Jasper woman killed after driving car off road into Angelina River

JASPER COUNTY - A Jasper woman was killed when she drove her car into the Angelina River in Jasper County Friday night.

Just before 8 p.m. Friday night, the Texas Department of Public Safety was notified of a one-car accident on FM 2799 in Jasper County west of Jasper according to a release from Texas DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

Trooper Davis said Jessica Lynn Tate, 36,  was driving a 2006 Nissan car westbound on FM 2799 when she left the road for an unknown reason.

Tate and the car have been recovered from the river and she was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Holloway.

The accident remains under investigation.
