Jasper County deputies investigate car spray painted with profanities, racial slurs

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office received several calls about the car, which was spray painted with racial slurs and profanities at the park and ride at FM 1004 and U.S. 96 on Friday afternoon.

JASPER COUNTY - Some in Jasper County were disturbed after a car spray painted with racial slurs was spotted at a park and ride lot in Call Junction on Friday.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office received several calls about the car, which was spray painted with racial slurs and profanities at the park and ride at FM 1004 and U.S. 96 on Friday afternoon.

Deputies believe the car owner's girlfriend spray painted the profanities onto his car but he is not being very cooperative with deputies and they haven't been able to speak to the girlfriend.

They are investigating it as a criminal mischief case at this time and do not believe it is a hate crime according to the sheriff's office.

"People a lot of times are sensitive to that kind of stuff and children shouldn't have to look at it and men and women shouldn't have to look at something that vulgar at the side of the road," said Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman

Newman encourages residents to call the Jasper County Sheriff's Office if they see anything else offensive.
