Initial autopsy results: Homeless woman's death is city's 8th homicide of 2017

BEAUMONT - The death of a homeless woman whose body was found over the weekend is believed to be Beaumont’s 8th homicide of the year.

A police spokesperson Tuesday said the preliminary autopsy results show the death of Catherine Jane Dungan, 54, is, “indicative of a homicide.”  The spokesperson did not release further information about the cause of death because of the ongoing investigation.

Dungan’s body was found Saturday around 6 p.m. at Collier’s Ferry Park located at 5360 Pine Street.

Detectives continue to follow up on leads.  They ask anyone who was in the area of Collier’s Ferry Park between 5-6 p.m. Saturday to call Beaumont Police at 409-832-1234 with information.
