Groves homeowner says he lost thousands in repairs never made after Harvey

GROVES - A Groves homeowner in a dispute with his contractor claiming he paid almost 18 thousand dollars for Harvey repairs that were not finished.

Matthew Sharp says that a quick decision cost him not only thousand, but now a slower process in getting back home after the storm. 

"I kind of feel like it's my fault, and now let my family down," Sharp says.

"A lot of the contractors are booked for the next 3 to 4 months," he says.

He says that he paid contractors with Tri-Cities Quality Services ahead of time, but they just stopped showing up.

"The paint still needs to be completed and the ceiling hasn't even been touched," Sharp says.

Quite a contrast from the company tells us.

Ken Phillips with Tri-Cities Quality Services tells us that the homeowner didn't spend anywhere near $18,000 and the work was closed to completion.

"It's depressing because now I can't afford to pay anyone else to fix this," Sharp says.

A learned lesson hoping this doesn't happen to anyone again.

"No matter how desperate you are, don't just hire anybody without knowing," Sharp says.

According to the Better Business Bureau, the Tri-Cities quality service is not a BBB accredited business.

The BBB suggests doing prior research before handing out money.

They say to fully look at contracts and make sure to read business reviews.
