Fort Worth firefighters assist at Lumberton house fire in flood ravaged neighborhood

LUMBERTON - Firefighters from the Fort Worth Fire Department assisted Lumberton firefighters in fighting a house fire Monday morning in Lumberton.

The fire was the final call the Fort Worth crew helped out with before leaving the county after helping out following Harvey according to Lumberton Fire Chief Jeff McNeel.

A Hardin County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the heavy flames coming from the house at about 2 a.m. while patrolling the neighborhood in the 100 block of Timbercreek McNeel said.

No one, including neighbors, were home at the time of the fire in the neighborhood that was one of the hardest hit by floodwaters McNeel said.

The fire department was stilling trying to contact the homeowner at 8 a.m.

The cause of the fire, which totaled the home, remains under investigation according to McNeel.
