An Orange County Grand Jury Wednesday indicted the former executive director of CASA of the Sabine Neches Region in Orange on one charge of felony theft.
Orange Police allege Elena Nicole (Nikki) Jones used the organization's credit cards for more than $40,000 in purchases. Authorities say most of the transactions were made to obtain cash at casinos.
Jones was terminated from her position shortly before the allegations were made public back in February.
CASA, a children's advocacy group, trains volunteers to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children. The Sabine chapter represents Orange, Hardin, Jasper, Tyler, Newton and Sabine counties.
Orange County Sheriff's Office tells 12News Jones was never arrested. Her bond was set earlier at $25,000.
