Elderly Silsbee woman dies in Thanksgiving Day crash

Silsbee Police Chief Mark Davis confirmed that an 88-year-old woman has died from a Thanksgiving Day crash. Thyra Humphrey Hicks of Silsbee was pronounced deceased at Saint Elizabeth Hospital.

SILSBEE - Silsbee Police Chief Mark Davis confirmed that an 88-year-old woman has died from a Thanksgiving Day crash. Thyra Humphrey Hicks of Silsbee was pronounced deceased at Saint Elizabeth Hospital. 

Hicks was driving a Honda SUV and pulled out of Cooks Road at about 4:00 Thursday afternoon. When she pulled out of the road, she was directly in the path of a family of five.

The family was driving a black Nissan SUV. Inside the SUV was a 37-year-old male driver, 37-year-old female, 14-year-old male, 16-year-old female, and 11-year-old female. All the occupants of the SUV were transported to St. Elizabeth by Acadian for minor injuries.
