Drive-by shooting leaves teen with bullet wound to the hand

A Port Arthur teen told police at the hospital that his bullet wound was the result of a drive-by shooting that happened early Friday morning.

A Port Arthur Police Department news release says the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 5200 block of Gulfway Drive.  The victim, 17, told police he was walking along the roadway when shots were fired from a passing vehicle.  The victim ran to the nearby Lakeview Palms Apartments and called for help.

A police department spokesperson said the teen’s injuries are non-life-threatening.

Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit took photographs and collected evidence for the investigation.  No arrests have been made as of 7:30 a.m. Friday.
