Coast Guard searching for missing mother along beach near Crystal Beach

33-year-old Brandy Mosley went to save her son from dangerous waters when she was swept under by the beach water on Monday

CRYSTAL BEACH - The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a woman who went missing Monday near Crystal Beach after going into the water to assist her 4-year-old son.

Brandy Mosley, 33, went into the water around 1:30 p.m. when her son started having trouble while swimming according to the Coast Guard.

The boy made it to shore but Mosley, who was wearing grey shirt and maroon shorts, did not according to the Coast Guard.

"It's just sad, tragic. I hope they find her to give the family a little bit of peace,” Ann Lawrence, one of the hundreds of beachgoers said as she watched authorities search for Mosley.

Lawrence feels that this is another tragic warning of how dangerous the beach currents can be.

“They just don't understand, when they come in from out of town how bad this water, you cannot fight this water," Lawrence said.

"A lot of people are concerned, a lot of people would love to help but there's nothing you can do except pray and hope for the best hope they find her," Lawrence said.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew USCG Air Station Houston and a boat crew from USCG Station Galveston are searching the waters off Crystal Beach with assistance from law enforcement and the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

The US Coast Guard Office tells us they are searching throughout Tuesday morning and will provide another update to the search.
