BEAUMONT - Spirit Halloween on Dowlen has been servicing the Beaumont area’s need for Halloween costumes for years. With the sudden increase in threats by people dressed in clown costumes across the United States, and with the recent threats to Beaumont and Port Arthur school districts, some costume shoppers are worried about this upcoming Halloween.
“They’ll kill you,” said some young costume shoppers
Store manager Jeff Dixon says he doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about.
“It’s just you know someone who wants to go viral,” said Dixon. “Somebody saw Steven king’s “IT” one too many times and wanted to put a scare into somebody you know.”
Cullen Brown, who was browsing through the store for a potential costume doesn’t share Dixon’s view on the matter.
“A lot of people are saying that they aren’t’ taking their kids trick or treating for that simple fact,” said Brown. “And that’s no fun for anybody.”
It might scare some people away from the favorite fall activity
So is it all for fun or really to scare people, Dixon thinks they are harmless.
“The people who are doing it are probably strange, but I don’t think there is any harm in it,” said Dixon “I don’t think they are trying to be malicious.”
