Beaumont students to advise city leaders

BEAUMONT - The fresh ideas of Beaumont high school students will soon have the ear of the Beaumont city council.  On Tuesday, council members approved a Beaumont Youth Advisory Council.  The council will be made up of 12 students from Beaumont 10th or 11th grade.

Each participating school will submit two student names to the city council for approval. The goal of the Youth Advisory Council is to give students the chance to develop leadership and citizenship skills while learning about and encouraging involvement in city government.

Participating schools include Central High School, Harmony Science Academy, Legacy Christian Academy, Kelly High School, Ozen High School and West Brook High School.
