Beaumont Police swear in three new officers

Be on the lookout for some new faces on Beaumont's streets; BPD swore in three new recruits Friday morning.

In a special ceremony in the department's training room, 23-year-old Joshua Hall, 41-year-old Demond Janis and 23-year-old Willie Melancon took their oath of office, which was administered by Chief Jim Singletary.

Hall recently graduated from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Police Academy and is also a United States Marine Corps Reservist.
Janise worked for ten years as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Corrections, but also spent three years as an officer for B.I.S.D. Police.
Melancon completed the L.I.T. Regional Police Academy and also attended Lamar University.
They will spend the next 22 weeks in a rigorous field training program.
