BEAUMONT - While Andrae Thierry was at work on June 1, a man claiming to be a salesman with Vivint home security approached his door. That triggered his home alarm system.
“I asked him what can I help him with? He said he was going door to door making sure security alarms were working properly. I told him that it was working fine and I didn't need any help, I didn't need any contract extensions or anything like that,” Thierry said.
Thierry was able to talk with Beaumont Police while the man was outside his home through the Ring home security app on his phone.
The man eventually left before police arrived, according to Thierry.
Thierry paid less than $200 for the Ring security system.
Beaumont Police tell us that high-quality security video cameras can help catch thieves committing crimes or someone attempting to commit crimes.
It’s a system that brings peace of mind to Thierry.
"It’s just an extra sense of security," Thierry said.
Beaumont Police told Thierry that up to 15 calls came in that day regarding a similar incident. No arrest was made since no crime was committed.
