A Beaumont family is left with nothing on Thanksgiving week after an early morning house fire on the south end. The aftermath of the fire left Lakita Edwards and her four children with nothing.
Edwards says that she heard a loud "boom" at about three o’clock this morning. It was only moments before, her two year old had awakened her looking for "juice.”
Beaumont fire investigators believe it was a space heater that caused the house fire.
“The smoke was coming towards me as I was running, we had to get out of the house,” said Lakita Edwards, the homeowner. If it wasn't for him waking up in the middle of the night, we would have been dead, but now we don't have a place to go. "
