Beaumont animal shelter hopes to empty kennels over the holidays through pet foster program

BEAUMONT - The City of Beaumont's animal shelter is looking for help to take care of a lonely pet over the holidays this year.

For the eighth year in a row Beaumont Animal Services is participating in “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays," which is a national program seeking to empty the kennels for Christmas in more than 13,000 shelters around the country according to a release from the Beaumont Animal Services.

Shelter staff hope to have all of their adoptable pets fostered for the holidays by noon on Saturday, December 23 according to the release.

The city shelter has an average of about 60 adoptable dogs and 30 adoptable cats that can be viewed online at PetFinder.com.

Residents interested in fostering a dog or cat for the holidays can visit the shelter at  1884 Pine Street in Beaumont Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. to fill out an application or call the shelter at (409) 880-3794.

Qualified pet foster "parents" can qualify for a free spay or neuter on their own pets through the shelter's free spay & neuter program according to the release.
