17-year-old Sulphur man charged with second degree murder

SULPHUR - Sulphur Police are investigating a homicide that took place on November 18, 2017.

According to a release from Police Department, when the officers arrived, they found that David Reed III had been shot and that the shooter had fled. Reed was pronounced dead at the hospital and witnesses identified 17-year-old Blake Pollard as the shooter. Pollard was arrested and is being charged with Second Degree Murder, and two other's have been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Second Degree Murder

According to Police Chief Lewis Coats, on November 18, 2017 at 1300 hours, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Post Oak Rd in reference to a shooting. Upon officers arrival, it was determined that a black male, David Reed III of Sulphur, had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene. Victim Reed was transported to West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Witnesses identified the shooter as 17 year old Blake Poullard of Lake Charles. Later in the afternoon, investigators located and arrested Poullard at an apartment complex in Sulphur. Poullard was arrested without incident and charged with Second Degree Murder. In addition to Poullard’s arrest, investigators charged two juveniles with Accessory After the Fact to Second Degree Murder for their part in assisting Poullard or concealing his whereabouts.
