Hamshire-Fannet ISD mourns the loss of their student

A 10-year-old Hamshire-Fannett student was killed in ATV accident on Monday evening and officials say they are mourning their loss. 

Trevor Chesson, of Hamshire, was killed when the ATV he was riding rolled over on him according to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

"It's a shock and the whole community is going through a grieving process including students, staff members, and the family," said Dwaine Augustine, the superintendent. 

Deputies and EMS responded to an ATV accident just before 5 p.m. Monday at a residence on Highway 124 near Hamshire Road according to the sheriff's office.

Chesson was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital where he died. Augustine says the district is providing counseling support for their students and staff members. 

Funeral services will be held for Chesson Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hamshire.

A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday evening from  5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
