This week's 'Star Student' has a lot on her plate between school, work and extracurricular activities, but she manages to balance them all with a smile. This 11th Grader from Central Medical Magnet High School is doing this all while pursuing her dream of working in the medical field.
Liand Lara leads her Spanish class in a lesson on medical terminology her confidence and passion for the subject shines through.
"If one of every person that graduates would be bilingual that would be so much help in the medical field," said Liand. She wants to one day become a pediatrician and interpret for those who can't speak fluent English.
She says her first goal is to graduate and get into the University of Texas in Austin, and she's well on her way. With her schedule full of advanced placement classes, Liand says she not only feels more prepared for college but also for life.
