Kountze man arrested after dropping $700 in counterfeit money, police say

A Kountze man is facing forgery charges after police say he tried to pay for items at a local convenience store with counterfeit money.

Kountze Police Corporal Randy Erwin said a store clerk told Danny Cooper last week that the $100  bills he was using appeared to be fake, and that he was calling police, Cooper fled the store.

Erwin says on his way out of the business, Cooper dropped seven $100 bills.  All of the dropped bills had the exact same serial number.

Cooper was later arrested at his home.

Police say he is linked to a similar incident the previous day.
