Jefferson County deputies closing in on burglars

A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says deputies may be close to ending a rash of burglaries that has plagued the town of Nome for the past several weeks.

On Thursday, someone living on McDermand road reported a suspicious pickup in the area.  When deputies responded they found the burglars had struck a home in the neighborhood.  They also found the suspicious truck with what they believe to be stolen property.

Deputies searched the area, but did not find anyone connected with the truck.

A truck was taken from one of the homes in the neighborhood.  It is a 2008 Ford F-450 flatbed with Texas License Plate BV1-7749.  It has a helicopter decal in the back window.
