Investigators: Foster mom charged after child locked in closet

A spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says a Louisiana foster mom has been charged after it was discovered she had locked one child in a bedroom and another in a closet.

On September 27, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the Department of Children and Family Services regarding the welfare of a 3 year old boy and a 6 year old girl.

The investigation revealed the children's foster mother, Connie E. LeBleu, 46, and Jericka E. LeBleu, 18, a family member of Connie LeBleu, both of Iowa, had locked the 3 year old boy in his room for long periods of time on numerous occasions. It was also learned the 6 year old girl had been made to sleep in a closet with no electricity or air circulation, and given a bucket to urinate in.

During an interview with detectives, both Connie and Jericka LeBleu confirmed the allegations. They were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2 counts of cruelty to a juvenile.

Judge Michael Canaday set both of their bonds at $20,000 each.

The two victims were removed from the home by the Department of Children & Family Services.
