Inmate identified as person of interest in the 2007 death of Bridgette Gearen

As the sixth anniversary of the death of Bridgette Gearan approaches this month, investigators with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office say they have a person of interest in the case.

That person is currently a prison inmate in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

He's been in prison on unrelated charges.  His identity is not being released.

Gearen was a single mom from Orange who was found dead on Crystal Beach on July 15th, 2007.

The 28-year-old had been beaten, raped and strangled.

On the day before her body was found, she had been at a beach house with her two-year-old daughter and friends.

Campers found Gearen's body about 100 yards from that house.
