Highway 105 reopens after controlled burn forces closure

A stretch of Highway 105 west of Beaumont has reopened after a fire caused its closure.

A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said officials closed the road from Keith Road to Reins Road due to poor visibility, which was caused by a controlled burn.

Thick smoke made conditions hazardous for drivers, and flames were seen at the edge of the highway.

The roadway was closed for about 45 minutes Monday afternoon.  The fire has since been extinguished.
