Haynes' complaint heads to municipal court

12News has learned a complaint filed by Beaumont Independent School District communications director Jessie Haynes against a school board member has been sent to Beaumont Municipal Court.

The complaint stems from a scuffle captured on video between Haynes and board trustee Mike Neil on August 1, 2013. Haynes would not allow Neil and reporter Jerry Jordan into a news conference. During the altercation, Haynes claims she was hurt by Neil and filed a complaint with BISD police citing offensive touching which is a Class C Misdemeanor. Since police have sent the complaint to municipal court, it will be up to city prosecutors to decide if charges will be pursued.

Neil has also filed a complaint with BISD police accusing Haynes of obstructing an entryway which is a Class B Misdemeanor. Since it is a more serious charge, BISD police plan to send that case to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.  However, they say it could be another week before it is sent.
