HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman was found dead inside a northeast Harris County home early this morning. Deputies say she had been shot to death.
Deputies were called out to a home on Peppergate near Rainglen around 1am after neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots.
Detectives say a 27-year-old woman was shot several times by her ex-husband in his home. Authorities say the couple has children but they were with their grandparents and didn't witness the confrontation.
Investigators say the 28-year-old man said he shot his wife in self-defense because she was allegedly coming after him and threatening him with a knife.
"Looks like there has been a history of family violence," said Sgt. Ben Beall with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "I understand they have been separated for a while, but they still do meet and talk on a regular basis. We're just going to have to wait until we get throughout the investigation."
Right now, the man is being interviewed at the sheriff's office headquarters. There are no charges in this case right now.
